watch "killing us softly" (4th edition)
here's the trailer.

it's a film focusing on the media's portrayal of women
(teens, children, toddlers, and babies too)
as sexualized objects.

it's fascinating, disgusting, insightful.
hopefully, it'll change/contribute to
the way you perceive advertisements/commercials.

did you know that:
most european/australian/canadian schools
have required classes that educate students
about the media's influence and it's dangers?
or
US schools don't get government funding for teaching safe-sex
(only abstinence)?
or
only about 8% of our brain consciously watches
a commercial ad.
the rest filters into our subconsciousness?
or
that magazines will be required to caption
under pictures whether or not
"1 full-complete single human being"
was used in the advertisement.
photoshoppers often piece together
body parts of 6 different women.
taking a nose, chin, neck, skin/etc
& piecing parts together to make
"the perfect woman"?
or:

?
i wonder what mops is doing.

been studying for the human genome
midterm for hours...

my dad went to mendel's (monastery)garden a few weeks ago.
he told me he found some rocks and glass for me.
he stole from the church.

thanks jeffy:)
(it was $2.90!)
tis their fault.
rebekah just narrowed her eyes and asked me accusingly:
"why do you always go to the porter caves?"
LOL. i've been there once!

now the balcony connected to my window
can be used for drying clothes!
the sun, it shines.
santa cruz sea glass is a jewelry line.
i wonder if they need
glass collectors.
strange new species keep getting discovered.
i wish i could travel around & be a professional "discover-er"
finding all sorts of giant koalas,
rodent goats, and pygmy aye ayes.
hopefully, i'll get into zooarchaeology next fall!

the finished product:
i've come to the conclusion that we do exist.
it was ambiguous the other day.

quarks & antiquarks.
who's afraid of red, yellow, and blue?

writing a paper about a painting
i am unsure about
while trying to follow an unclear prompt
is difficult,
esp when holding/eating a stick of cotton candy
(in the library).
blue sticky droplets are appearing on my notes.
;; ; ; ; ; ;; ;;
i just stood outside dominique's window
& called her name multiple times.
she didn't answer.
so i went inside to find her, and then
she refused my cotton candy offering :-(
so i watched it dissolve in h2O
and left a mess in their sink.
a blue
mess.

rothko might have something to say about this.

My skin smells like sunscreen, salt, and summer.
Angela and I went to the boardwalk beach today.
It was wonderful, sunny, and perfect.

We waded in clear water, collecting sea glass and shell bits.
thanks book, for propping lulu up
"yeah, and you just like, do the whole dripping thing"
:)
someone spit and it landed in my hair...
looks can be deceiving.
we dug for clothes in the $5 bin at Jezdebel's,
browsed antique stores, and eventually headed back to campus.

Martin, Michael and I went trekking in the forest.
(Michael is visiting from LA)

I felt it was about time I saw a banana slug.
the forest god decided it was about time too:
on the way, after encountering bones, a mattress, and poison ivy,
we came upon a shrine in a tree trunk.
There was a wooden box full of notes, we read them all..
:)
pink fungus!
growing on a log
we climbed down:

the dining hall is closed tonight,
so i resorted to eating the only food i could find:
he saw me, climbed under the fence,
onto the road, and looked at my foot.

their color relationship, then you miss the point"

i suddenly smelled turpentine
& heard

La Noyee.

she's eating the raspberries off her fingers
plucking them off; 1-2-3.
seeds.
I snipped this skirt.
it was knee-length-ish but now
it is birthmark-length-ish.
i just noticed that the birthmark
on my thigh resembles a chromosome
(well more like one sister chromatid)
here's a postcard from mcsweeny.
i made a list of things i want to do.
according to someone, i have contracted
"kaleidoscopia"
jeffjoseph&alex's room smells like meat and candy.

walking to the dining hall one morning,
i found a clump of wire smashed into a flat disk.
after some untwisting, bead stringing, and re-twisting,
it became a necklace!
i can't enter the world market bazaar without going wild.
