I couldn't stop smiling after mr. film developer

handed me the envelope enveloping the following(+20 more)
I am pleased ;-)

"A supernova occurs when a giant star,

one much bigger than our own Sun,
collapses and then spectacularly explodes,
releasing in an instant the energy of a hundred billion suns,
burning for a time more brightly than all the stars in its galaxy"
p.41
this is one of the most beautiful things
I have ever heard.

this picture has no relevance to anything.
But I suppose it can illustrate different
planetary orbits.

...
!!okay!!

This is my 400th post! :)

I took a deep breath
and listened to the old bray of my heart;
I am I am I am.

After almost finishing the Matisse painting
(about time, I know) today,
I decided to paint my hand.
After my fun though, I had trouble getting it off(off the rug too)
But luckily, the turpentine rubbed it off pretty good.
Now my hand smells like toxins.

after looking at this picture, I guess it's clean up time.
everything is still where I left it an hour ago.

I looked at the mirror afterwards,
and I thought my eyeball was bleeding.
But it was just red paint.

Today, there was a little boy sitting on the floor of a store.
He was hugging 3-4 stuffed animal tigers.
He rocked around back and forth
and maniacally chanted
"minee! These are all mineee!"
I giggled.

now i'm going to ride my bike
and start my bug collection.

you're a wolf, boy,

get out of this town.

& don't forget
the universe is smiling at you:
(here's a diagram of what I mean^)

Adventures in Joshua Tree

Snailboy and I survived our camping adventure.
The campground was eerily deserted and full of bees.
We roasted meat on a stick and feasted on it.

nate and josh

there were good hiding spots for ryan or jason
(or both)
After the cloud filled sky cleared up,
we popped the corn,
climbed to the top of a giant rock,
laid down and watched billions of stars
dangling in the universe above our heads.

At night, we tried to sleep but the howling wind(and rain)
almost blew our cozy little tent away.
Snailboy was the hero and went out into the darkness
to tie tent strings to surrounding bushes.
Then we huddled together rather paranoid
about the strange sounds outside.there was a fun cave
and a caveman waved to me.

We woke up groggy and the moist towelettes we bought weren't even moist.
Our water supply was low.
Then bees all wanted to feast in his soup,
so they did.

But it was a wonderful adventure,
especially watching giant twinkling balls of plasma and gases
many many light years away.

I found a toad today.

Toady is his real name.

He was sitting in a snake(or gopher) hole
by the creek filled with fish
staring off into space.
Toady and his sitting-in-a-hole lifestyle
bears a striking similarity to the proverb
I blabbed on for 2 minutes about during the AP test
about the frog in the well:

A frog had a limited view of a small patch of sky
from where he sat in at the bottom of a well.
He proudly thought he knew all there was in the world
because he thought the world only consisted of that piece of the sky.
But a bird(or some other creature who probably lived outside of the well)
laughed at this frog for being so ignorant.

So the moral of the story is:
don't think you know everything because
there's much out there you don't know even exists.
So go and find it!

(or you can be like Toady and sit there staring off into space
which can lead to being consumed by a predator with sharp teeth)

[edit]
As I ate my cucumber rolls
and discussed frustration with kiko's master,
my eyes wandered to a middle-aged man
minding his own business and terriyaki bowl,
wearing a slug shirt.
& I felt a rush of excitement.

[um, another edit]
speaking of slugs,
and libraries(okay, although this was not mentioned ONCE..)
i laughed.
esp. at the end..

i want to cringe
but i want to smile too.

i've never updated 3 times in one day.
this must be because of the forced hiatus
enforced by the communist party.

it's
the
magical
mystery
kind.

This is how I spent my last day in China:
Sitting on the front porch devouring a peach
listening to Uncle Big Al's stories, harvesting grapes,
and watching Aunt Alberta fry the most delicious leaves.

garden that goes a thrivin'

corn that goes a roastin'

leaves that goes a whirrlin'

fresh leaves that goes a pickin'

grapes that goes a harvestin'

melon that goes a gnawin'

comb that goes a honeyin'

(dead)bats that goes a flyin'

Once upon a few months ago at Uni's language lab,
our assignment was to practice using Chinese websites and
learn what "resources" there were to help us enrich ourselves.

So instead of looking up Chinese historical stories and practicing reading text,
I looked at the travel guide section and
looked for interesting potential places to visit for the upcoming trip.

Wuzhen caught my eye right away and
luckily, it just so happened to be a stop during the tour guide trip
(fast forward a few months).

The little ancient water village built in 872 AD
still stands today and inhabits townsfolk who do their laundry
in the river and fry fresh(and I mean fresh)rooster hearts outside their doorsteps.

My,
life is a-changing;
don't forget to just breathe.

I've been neglecting my
good old loyal blog(and using flickr..) so I'm making up for this
by posting my two favorite pictures from the entire trip to China.

Shanghai Nights:
(hehe but no jackie or owen)

how strange it is to be anything at all.

The moon looked so tasty tonight
I just wanted to gobble up
the big yellow natural satellite.

Cherries are red
Your flowers are blue
Today was lovely
And so are you.
(cheezay but I speak the truth)

happy birthday nate.

i just want to scavenge for bark with my antlers
and prepare for winter.

I open the door and you are standing there

holding red,yellow, and orange flowers,
smiling.

together, we are trilingual!

after a day of errands, panic, and frantic CD burning
I now have a 12 hour plane to catch..
(only 17 minutes behind schedule!)
zai jian!

I should be packing/preparing for the trip(China!) but instead
I am running around hills, flying kites, and doing photo shoots.

The clouds were pretty yesterday.
It was like a dream.

A Sunday read, warm soft breeze
giggles, tickles and lemonade.
A handy webcam, dips in the pool,
with cat-hair covered sofa cuddles.

and the best part,
finding a magic wand by the sewer!

I'm giddy.

A Pecking Party
(and no, not the Group Therapy kind)

We were a little slow at organization today but
at the end, our lovely picnic/rest of the day worked out.

after stuffing ourselves with lots of eatables,
we lured the ducks(and a goose) over with stale goldfish.

Navid approves

then the evil one showed up

Nemesis Duck was being a bully to the "weak females" so
Navid bullied back and shooed him away

Nap time came but we did not nap
for fear of Nemesis Duck's attack
so we just shared things in a circle
(like in kindergarten..but not)
--
we drew smiling kitties, flowers, hearts, and played tic-tac-toe

"We R college kids and atheists"

baby Omid wanted to play too
he was supposed to "be ready at 5"

hmmmm toxins and plastic

then we drank 100 grams of sugar each, devoured cinnamon rolls, and ate more food
while staring at a colorful talking box for 4 hours.

Navid official-ized the friendship between us as he reached the point of
comfortableness throughout the day
and then crossed the line..
thanks Navid,
we love your popped pimples, chapped lip, and goldfish stuck in teeth...

You're my
favorite canvas.
